This is probably the most famous outdoor skating rink in Montreal. Right downtown, you are skating on a little side arm of the fleuve St-Laurent. The rink consists of a well maintained, frequently zambonied main area, with the possibility of skating out to an extended additional circuit. A different genre of music accompanies skaters every day of the week, e.g. independent rock on Wednesdays and francophone music on Sundays.
A wonderful view of the Montreal skyline adds to the skating experience.
There is also a warming hut, and the possibility to rent skates and safety equipment for kids.
However, in contrast to other wonderful skating rinks on the city, this one is not free, and that causes me to give only four stars. You will have to cough up 6$ a day or 27$ for the season. Considering that other well maintained outdoor skating rinks in Parc Lafontaine or Parc Jean Drapeau are just a few metro stops away and free, it is a bit surprising how much more busy this rink seems.
