Discovered Cristina's from a segment feature while having CP24 on as background noise. The shop "tortina" meaning cupcake is a shop dedicated to the owners daughter Cristina. Born with Down Syndrome she wanted her daughter to have the same opportunities as her peers. The company mission is "Showcasing Capabilities" and employs 6 employees with Downs Syndrome and Autism. Loved what the shop stood for so I had to stop by and support a local business doing good.
As for the cupcakes, are they any good? Yes, some are better than others.
Caramello
A dulce de leche cupcake topped with dulce de leche buttercream topped with a chewy caramel candy- moist, light a fluffy base with the right amount of dulce goodness
Noce di Cocco
Coconut cupcake with vanilla buttercream topped with toasted coconut- I could tell this one wasn't popular as coconut tends to be a love/hate flavour. A little dry- probably the first batch of the day and not sold through. Great taste oozing with coconut flavours. Most cupcakes claim to be "coconut" with just sprinkles on top- this is a head to toe party in your mouth kinda deal. Would order it again if fresh
Pazzi per Nutella
A Nutella cupcake topped with Nutella buttercream and a Ferrero Rocher- divine- Nutella lovers, this ones for you! Amazing flavours of chocolate and hazelnut without being a sugar bomb
I arrived one hour before closing so the cupcake offerings were limited.
I was served by Carcell. Attentive and asked what my favourite flavours were. Offered up his top picks all while grinning from ear to ear while taking my order. Cristina's is a feel good shop offering up fantastic customer service.
The shop itself is more of a walk in. There is a table with chairs.
Overall, not the absolute best cupcakes I have tried on the face of this earth but love what this shop stands for! I'll be back overdosing on sugar when in the area.
