| - I came here because the Velveteen Rabbit was a favorite story from my childhood, but you will want to come here for the $8 craft cocktails! I imagine the bar is packed during First Friday, but my visit was on a quiet Sunday evening-- Mothers Day. It was easy to locate the bar on Main Street right next to Casa Don Juan (even if you think you want to eat there, you really don't!)
I love the dark, artsy interior with plenty of comfy furniture and couches for lounging around with friends. If they included any details that should have reminded me of the story of the Velveteen Rabbit, I missed them, or maybe I did not have enough to drink. After reading over the Elixirs menu, I ordered the Resurrection (Mt. Gay rum, allspice, lime, jalapeno oil, Schlitz beer, honey syrup, angostura bitters, salted rim... am I missing something here?) from one of the friendly bartenders, and it was a good drink. I appreciate the unique combinations and prevalence of house-made flavor infusions on the cocktail menus, though few of the drink descriptions really jumped out at me. My liquor preferences have a Spanish accent and I enjoy girly drinks with umbrellas, so that's just me. Based on the carefully-crafted Resurrection that I tried, I would not hesitate to order any of the Elixirs. They only cost $8, which I didn't think was possible anywhere in Las Vegas. A very welcome addition to the Arts District!
