| - This was easily the best part about my recent trip to Toronto; while the rest of the time I avoided being a total tourist, I had to give this a go. If you're afraid of heights, this is definitely not for you. Everyone else, keep reading please!
I had hoped the weather would clear up long enough that I'd get to see blue skies and minimal clouds, and I got my wish. Apparently I just got lucky the day I went, because there was hardly a line at all and I walked through without worrying about bumping into people - which was good, because my jaw kept dropping at the sights of downtown Toronto and the lake. I even got to watch planes landing at and taking off from a small private airport. You don't get to see that from ABOVE the plane very often!
The views alone were worth the price of admission, but just to make it better, you can learn lots of cool trivia everywhere you go in the building; there's wall displays as well as TV screens that provide a general overview of each area the tower overlooks. Also: I say pay the extra money that lets you climb to the top level. It's absolutely worth it, and you may even experience a really wonky but cool swaying sensation on a windy day - I did, and it was fascinating to me to feel my body reacting to something in the environment that my subconscious and only my subconscious was picking up on. (I'm admittedly weird, though.) Also, the glass floor: definitely check it out. It's amazing to look down and see your feet above what will be the aquarium.
Real adrenaline junkies can actually harness themselves in and WALK along the outside edges of the tower when weather cooperates. So if that sounds cool, start watching the forecast and planning ahead!
I'd do this again in a heartbeat - views like this are always worth it, and the tower itself is a fantastic testimony of what humans can accomplish and build when they want to.
