| - Been a long time patient of Dr. Scott Manthei for years. He's a great doctor and I happily recommend him. Taken great care of me and helped my with my horrible allergies. The reason for the 2 star review is listed below...
- Phone scheduling system is a giant cluster (hot mess). Have heard the "we are at lunch please call back later" message at 9am. You hit certain extensions to be told the mailbox is not set up, or it's full and you cannot leave a message. Have had staff patch me through to the wrong extension or just disconnect and hang up on me. Someone needs to overhaul this system, and properly train all members of the staff on how to use it. It's a bad first impression and very frustrating, especially when you are sick or not feeling well.
- Staff politeness needs to improve. After spending 35 minutes stuck in your phone system purgatory, it would be nice to hear a kind voice on the other end. You will encounter a female at most times that sounds annoyed because you are calling the office. They are short and just want to pass you off to someone else, or hang up with you. A little kindness for the patients goes a long way. Without us visiting your office you would be out of a job.
- Excessive waiting. I thought it was bad at Dr Manthei's old location down the street on Windmill/Pecos, this new spot might be worse? I waited exactly 2 hours the other day from my scheduled appointment time, to seeing the doctor. When I saw the doctor, I received a shot and was on my way in under 8 minutes. Granted, the waiting room was filled with sick folks suffering from their allergies (like me), but 2 hours is a bit much. I did see a few people get frustrated and complain to the lady at the front desk. Probably why she is so upset when you call to schedule an appointment? (figured it out)
- Finally, Dr Manthei is no longer really seeing his patents any more. The past three times I have went in I have seen Dr Dey. He's a good doctor. Very quiet and does not explain as well as Dr Manthei. I asked one of the nurses where is Dr Manthei? She said that he's around, but he's "big time now" and working on the bigger cases. Said he rarely see's the routine visits unless surgery is involved. OK, wish I knew that. Now I do.
The facility is spotless and very modern. I will give it another shot and see if it get's better. I am feeling a bit frustrated at this time though. Especially after the excessive wait time I experienced the other day. I can be patient and I understand that a short wait in inevitable, but two hours is too long. We are all busy and work like crazy people in this city. We all have better things to do than sit in a waiting room for two hours waiting to be seen by a doctor. To add insult to injury, a lot of folks are sneezing and coughing from allergies and it's not a very pleasant wait.
Say it again, Dr Manthei is a great doctor, he's taken good care of me for years. Hopefully I will get to see him next time I need to go in. If the owners of this facility can make the proper changes and adjustments to the matters mentioned above, they will be a top notch doctors office. They have the talented medical staff, just need to get their office and appointments up to speed!
