This place is absolutely horrible..we took our 17lb. shih tzu there for boarding and will never be returning. I honestly can't believe this place doesn't get shut down and it has remotely nothing in common with a "Spa"
So where to start.....
Our dog was there for 3 nights and I should have known from the minute we walked in to turn around and leave. As soon as we walked in we noticed a huge glass window with a bunch of dogs running around one large concrete floored room. They had medium to small dogs all mixed together and they were all just barking and freeking out with no human interaction. Our dog is not used to being around that many stimulation at one time so we asked since it was his first time if they could slowly work him into being around this kind of madness. We also brought a blanket and a whole bag of dog food since they recommended bringing in these items. I asked if they kept the dogs together in this room the entire time (including eating and sleeping) and they told us that this was just for interaction. The guy reassured us our dog would be fine and that if there were any problems he would call us directly so I figured everything would be ok. I did find it odd that he never asked us for medical papers, I actually had to bring it up to him, you would think that this would be important since this is a boarding facility.
Now the reason why I would never recommend this place is how our dog was returned. We told the man that we would be returning Sunday afternoon and he told us to get there before 4 because that is when they lock up for the night. We arrived around 3 o clock and a girl behind the desk looked shocked that someone showed up to the place. First she didnt know which one was our dog or even what the breed was. So when we finally got that straightened out we see her walk into the large community room and go to the back corner...she returns to the front without our dog and grabs a leash off the wall returning to the room....we see her through the window pulling our dog out of the kennel with all of the other dogs going crazy swarming the poor little guy. She finnaly opens the door to the community room and all of the dogs run out and I hear our dog growling and barking in the back (OUR DOG HAS NEVER GROWLED AT ANYONE). She finally opens the door to the front of the room and brings our dog out shaking and looking scared like hes about to have a nervous breakdown, and procedes to tell us that he tried to snip at her and asks if he has ever done that in the past. Of course we tell her no. She grabs a towel and lifts him up to hand to us and our dog is completely covered in urine from head to toe . She then tries to explain he peed on himself when she was brigning him out (how does a dog pee on his own head?). So she tells us we can keep the towel to put him in the car with him still soaked of urine, doesnt offer to clean him. She hands us back the blanket we brought still folded under the front counter and his bag of food that is still practically full!.It didnt seem like these dogs were ever left the main room and I doubt he was fed on a regular basis since there was hardly any food missing from the bag.We ask her if she has his retractable leash we brought him in with....she cant find that and finally calls the owner to see if he knows where its at...he doesnt answer so she ends up giving us some crappy one they had there and said he will call us tomorrow....Now to put the icing on the cake when she rings me up for the 3 nights of boarding she tells me shell give me a night for free since our dog was returned they way he was!!!!! I couldn't believe how bad of an experience this was and was just happy that our dog was out of this torture. I found it insulting she was treating him like a peice of merchandise, I would rather of had him returned clean than saving a few bucks!. We left went directly home, washed him, and he just wasnt himself for the next few days. Till this day were still waiting for the phone call from the owner to see if they found the leash.
I cant comment on the grooming or the daycare but the boarding seems just straight inhumane. If you love your pet, keep them away from Urban Dog, I know I will!!!!
