| - My husband and I brought our mastiff to Hot Diggity Dog this past Saturday to utilize the self-serve washing station. When we arrived, we waited 5 minutes (and rang the bell twice) before someone came out to the front to help us - two people were only working in the early afternoon on a Saturday. As we were washing, we noticed a general lack of upkeep with the supplies. The tub was leaking, so much so that it soaked through two bath towels. The hair catcher in the drain was torn and useless, and the dryers were both either dead or dying. My husband pointed out that one of them is a potential fire hazard as the switch clicks over, but nothing happens.
What really concerned us, and is the reason we will no longer give Hot Diggity Dog our business, is what happened at the tub behind us. As we were washing our dog, an employee brought a Husky puppy to the tub behind us to be washed. She strapped him in to the tub so he couldn't jump out and proceeded to wash him. Shortly after, we heard the front bell ring. A few minutes later it rang again - clearly the other employee was not around to assist them, so the new employee LEFT THE PUPPY TIED UP IN THE TUB, SOAKING WET AND ALONE, to go to the front and answer the bell. I realize this was a difficult situation for her to be in, but the poor puppy was clearly terrified. He was jumping all around, squealing and barking, and started to knock all of the shampoo bottles onto the floor and into the tub. I was concerned that he might choke himself. It got so bad that my husband actually went to pet the puppy and try to calm him down. Then he yelled out to the front that a dog couldn't be left tied up like that. The employee came back and explained that she didn't want to leave the puppy, but the other employee was nowhere to be found.
I understand that this was a difficult situation, but it could have been avoided if more than two people were working on a Saturday. I do not support any business that will not staff itself adequately or train employees to ensure proper care for all the animals.
