I had been so curious about this rolled ice cream craze for awhile so while having happy hour with my honey at my new favorite neighborhood spot, Boteco (see review), which is two doors down we opted not to have desert so we could try out Rolled Ice Cream. The place was busy which is always a great sign. It was really confusing though where the line started. We tried to ask an employee and didn't really get a straight answer so we just kinda of picked a route but it seemed a bit of a free for all.
The actual concept is really impressive however. It's like a teppanyaki in reverse. Instead of an uber hot griddle they have an arctic cold platform that they pour their fresh cream and your selected ingredients to make your own customized creation.
But here is the thing.... there were about 4 ice cream "rollers" working. Each roller took each party whether it was 1 person or 5 people. My boyfriend ordered first as I was still trying to decide. Now once his was made I gave my order. So now the dilemma of whether he can start eating his or let it melt in the Vegas heat? Of course I told him to start. Now by the time mine was made he was already finished eating. Kinda of takes the enjoyment out of it. Plus now I felt like I had to hurry up and finish since he was waiting on me. I don't understand why they wouldn't have 2 employees making it at the same time. Not to mention it would tremendously help the crowd control and get people in and out the door quicker.
All in all, quality of the ice cream was great but I'm not in a hurry to go back unless the get things running a lot smoother.
