  • I returned to Seafood City with my family yesterday . The experience was just as great as the last time , probably even better. Yes there were crowds but we went before 11 am so we could finish the groceries and then split up to reduce the time spent in lineups for some tasty Filipino food. As we did the usual groceries , we searched for items that we felt would give us an authentic experience. We got the Jufran banana sauce. There was a deal on it but being our first time we took it slow and just got one bottle. Had some with egg this morning as a friend recommended I do it . Also planning to try it with other items At the corner of the seafood section , the samples of ube and coconut icecream were amazing. Never had ube icecream before so after having two samples we got ourselves a tub . For something that is new and worth trying, just buy it. The Filipino Spaghetti sauce also caught our attention and we picked up a packet. Picked up a box of pretty looking sweets that looked like pastries called Kakanin. Lining up to pay was long butthe advantage was that it was an even bigger opportunity to keep looking around the place and spot things to try on another visit. It is the opening weekend after all and its the first store of its kind in North America so if you cannot handle waiting in long lineups then thats too bad ,. You'll have to plan ahead of time to avoid them. I liked the presentation of the seafood out in the open on beds of ice. It lets you pick what you want. There were lots of small snacks being sold like chips, and sticks resembling the Chinese snack Pocky. I think they are perfect for teatime gatherings and will go well with tea and coffee . Rabbit is also sold in packets We did not buy it but its is on my list and i plan to cook it as a stew sometime in the future. That sums up our trip to the Phillippines without travelling there. It was a lovely experience and we shall be back for more visits if we are in the area. Gr8 job on opening weekend Seafood City!!!. Keep it up !!! Looking forward to trying out some Jolibee food when it arrives.
