| - The owner of this gym is Josh Barnett. This location (possibly all Metro flex gyms) uses ABS financial for all of their transaction. Go research ABC financial and you will find how corrupt and crocked they are. Josh Barnett has chosen to do all transactions in person and does not have a working phone in the gyms nor will he answer to E-mails. He is a in violation of AZ Consumer Protection laws and many others.
After moving to Illinois I remembered that I had forgot to cancel my membership here. After calling repeatedly for weeks straight and sending E-mails with no answers or replies, I decided to message Metroflex-gym Phoenix on Facebook where I finally got a reply. Basically he said that I must come in to the store to cancel, but after explaining my situation and him being a total jerk, he said my membership was canceled. For the next four months Metroflex Gym continued to withdraw from my account. The first month is understandable since I didn't provide 30 days notice of my cancellation, however, the other three withdrawals were nothing short of theft. This includes the following amounts:
3/23 for $49.50
4/22 for $30.00
5/22 for $30.00
For a total of $109.50. At this point I am going to take all precautionary methods to try to prevent further theft from my account.
Check Google reviews for the screenshots. The following dialog shows our conversation on Facebook:
Me-
"Good afternoon, I've attempted to reach your office via telephone for a few days now. This will be my final attempt to reach out to you to cancel my membership until I block your transactions from my account and join the one star yelp/google review bandwagon. I've surpassed the contract date and would like to cancel my gym membership, therefore, any amount billed for after this date will be unlawful. I've read into the reviews about how difficult cancellations are and I hope the process will not be that difficult, but with no answers and not answers machine, I'm not very hopeful, as this is fraudulent activity."
Josh Barnett (Owner of this Metro Flex)-
"Why don't you come in?
Office is open 10-7 and 10-2 Saturday's and
Well you haven't the 5 stars and my expansion for the third time in last year but it's all good
All cancellations are handled at the gym in person to make sure it's handled properly"
Me-
"The gym is great. I just got worried when I saw the reviews and I was trying to call the office but couldn't reach anyone, nor could I reach a voice mail. I just moved away, I figured I would let the contract expire but wasn't certain if it were a membership that must be canceled to stop the membership."
Josh Barnett (Owner of this Metro Flex)-
"I can literally go through each review and tell you exactly they are full of it. Every single one. I never once have ever not cancelled someone that doesn't want to be here or is moving. Never. If it happens it's on them for not following protocol"
Me-
"The phone issue is a huge inconvenience and an issue that I've never experience at any of the 8 gyms I've had memberships at. Do I need to mail in the fob?"
Josh Barnett (Owner of this Metro Flex)-
"No worrries on fob. It's shut off
just cancel before you move. Simple message me Monday morning and I'll copy paste cancel letter"
Me-
"Sounds good. Thanks"

"Metroflex Gym-Phoenix, I would like to cancel my membership. I've recently moved, therefore, I will no longer be able to used the gym. Thanks, Luke Milliken"

(JAN 25TH, 10:33PM)
"I see that you haven't seen this message yet. Will I be charge for any days since I requested the cancellation?"
Josh Barnett (Owner of this Metro Flex)-
"No shoukdnt be"

"I just received a withdrawal from my account from metro flex Gym!!!
Can you get this straight for me?
I was also billed on January 1/22. I would like a refund for $60 immediately. If you had a damn phone I would contact you that way to resolve this sooner
Josh Barnett (Owner of this Metro Flex)-
"Again. Why don't you just stop in?
Anyways, it was cancelled. It's a 30 day cancellation policy like every gym in the country. But I'll call them to reverse it for you. So don't demand things from me when you didn't follow cancel procedure from the beginning. Ty"
Me-
"We've discussed that, please refer to the previous conversation. Okay so one month refund for the payment of this month? That works."
At this point I assumed that he would honor his word but after 3 months passed I looked back on my account statement to find that I was still being billed. I sent screen shoots of each withdrawal for the following amount on the following dates:
3/23 for $49.50
4/22 for $30.00
5/22 for $30.00
Me-
"These are all of the withdrawals your gym has made from my account after the date that you said my membership would be cancelled. Will I revive a refund for this?"
I am waiting on a response and ultimately a refund in the amount of $109.50
