| - An all time Phoenix classic!
When you pull up to the shop, you can sense the history right away. Incredible sign out front! Inside, the place is well worn in the best sense- it's lived in, in a welcoming, awesome way. People sometimes say Phoenix is still a small town- this is definitely a small town place with lots of regulars. Plenty of little signs that this place has been selling sandwiches for sixty-odd years, and I love it!
Great variety of delicious sandwiches and good combos. Each time I've been, I've loved everything I've gotten. The macaroni salad isn't over hyped... it's really that good.
The family that runs this place is awesome, too.
In Phoenix, so much of our history has been plastered over... too much is lost in the stucco and cheap tile and "championship golf" and "planned community" boredom. The history and heritage is there when you look for it, though, and this place is part of it. This is a Phoenix treat and if you haven't been here yet, you are completely missing out!
