| - This was a wonderful birthday experience. My birthday falls just after Valentine's Day, so they were still serving the 4 course fixed Valentine's menu which was perfect for us, but some other diners seemed surprised by this.
We started with a couple delicious and unique cocktails at the bar before moving on to our table. We requested to sit inside since it was a bit chilly and I am not a huge fan of outdoor dining anyway. We were seated by a window on the "porch", which alowed a great view without actually being outside. It was however still a bit chilly I would have appreciated a space heater or something.
The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient without being overbearing.
Dinner was fabulous. From the pistachio soup, gnocchi, and salad to the perfectly cooked duck breast to the breads, and delicious bread pudding dessert, we enjoyed every bite. They did offer a wine pairing option, but we chose to get a bottle from their excellent wine list which had a great variety of varietals and price points.
There were only a few very picky things that could have made it better. First, on Open table we were only able to get a reservation at 5:45 which was a bit early for us. We were there until after 8 and the place was never even close to being full, so not sure why we couldn't have come later. Second, while the duck was cooked perfectly and delicious, it was a bit on the cool side. Not sure if this was intentional or not but my husband and I both agreed it could have been a tad warmer. Lastly we were fortunate to catch that 20% gratuity had automatically been added to the check. We didn't see anywhere on the menu that this would happen and the server didn't mention it either. Now, we would have tipped at least this anyway, but we nearly tipped double that before we noticed the addition. This place is pricy, so that would have been an expensive mistake!
Other than these small things, it was a magical experience, and we look forward to going again for a special occasion.
