  • The short version: Easily the best experience I've had getting glasses in Madison (or anywhere else for that matter). The slightly elaborated version: I've been having a crazy difficult time filling a new progressive script. I've worn progressives since long before I "should" have needed to, so I'm fairly well used to them by now. But sadly, I found no joy getting my new script filled at well-known chain stores, other local optical stores, and through optometrists (and their affiliated clinic) at a local, very major university, all of which shall remain unnamed. Every attempt has led to glasses that deliver a viewing experience akin to surfing in a hurricane. Completely frustrated, I took my script into Olson after learning about their sterling reputation. I ordered and then eagerly picked up my new glasses. Lo and behold, they simply didn't work for me. It seemed I was eternally damned to eyeglass hell. With a certain resignation to my fate, I told Kara (who greeted me when I came in) that I had trouble seeing out of them. Immediately, she became extremely focused on figuring out what was wrong. Throughout all of this, Kara was incredibly nice and professional, and she was the epitome of outstanding customer service. Kara then spoke with Dr. (Angie) Olson, who took me into her office to check my prescription (from another optometrist), answer my questions, examine my other pairs of glasses, and explain why a different brand of lenses (costing nothing extra) were far more appropriate for my specific needs. Dr. Olson was as lovely to interact with and as generous with her time as one could hope for. My new lenses have now been ordered. What can I say? I've been wearing glasses since I was 7 and I've always hated the process of getting new ones. This was the most pleasant experience I've ever had getting glasses. I have no idea how these people are so nice, and this is now the only place I'm going for eyeglasses. P.S. I was just asked if I was paid to write this review. Sorry conspiracy theorists, my experience really was this good but feel free to send me a check.
