Saw the sign on the interstate while we were driving into town and had to check this out!
My children (2 & 5) and I had a wonderful experience there. The birds were of course amazing. All the signage was very clear and there were lots of flip up factoids my son loved to learn about. All the employees were knowledgeable and happy to talk to my 5 year old and answer LOTS of questions. They had a wonderful natural play area for children where they could build a nest, climb, and explore, as well as a small playground. I also loved the artists' corner where they provided easels and small tables and chairs made out of logs and paper and pencil and encouraged kids to draw what they saw.
We happily spent a little over two hours and could've spent longer but we were hungry and hadn't packed lunch.
Gift shop was very nice, had lots of small take home crafts you could buy for $2, which I felt is wonderful. Also bought an owl pellet to take home and dissect.
What would I change? I would have enjoyed a short "show" where they were talking about a few of the birds. There was an amphitheater so they may do that on some days, just not when we were there.
If you are going with kids I strongly suggest going to the Latta Nature Center as well which is right there.
