Personally, I don't find the prices higher than other grocery stores. In fact, I get many things cheaper here. Plus, I would rather pay a little more for super fresh produce than buy cheap produce that is half rotten.
At first, I was a little shocked and upset that a grocery store was going to take over Maple Leaf Gardens. But, I really like that they have kept the history of the space. When you enter, you will see a huge blue maple leaf made from actual seats from the arena. The wall is not completely finished, you can enjoy some of the wear and tear of cracks in the mortar. Seating in the dining area also uses the arena seats, complete with your aisle number still intact. They have made a great use of the historic sight and prevented it from being torn down or worse... turned into condos. I thoroughly enjoy coming here each week to buy groceries, browse, and enjoy the atmosphere. You never have a long wait to check out, they have cashiers and self-check out for those of you who are in a hurry or prefer to do it yourself. As an American who recently moved to Toronto, I really appreciate this grocery store. It is truly an American style grocery store, which means everything in one spot for those who are too busy to go to 5 different stores to check off everything on your shopping list.
Did I mention the LCBO that is upstairs? :)
