  • The day before Thanksgiving I read a Facebook post by a former teacher of mine. He had apparently ordered a cake from Archie's for the holiday. Well, he posted a photo of the cake and seeing it motivated me to check the bakery's website--they were open for another half hour on that fateful day. I did what any red-blooded American woman with a sweet tooth and a car would at that point: I gunned it to Archie's. I made it just in time, and to my delight, they had three items left: two lemon/coconut cakes and a sweet potato pie. I couldn't decide which to get for the Thanksgiving dinner I was attending the following day. Archie's kind wife said I could buy one and she'd give me another to take with me. And so I did. The sweet potato pie was excellent, as was the coconut/lemon cake. Thank you to Archie and his lovely wife for the sweet desserts!
