| - Oh, Cancun....
What are we to do...?
We have stayed here twice so far and to be honest, I have no gripes with the facility or staff in general. Both visits have been pleasant and we have enjoyed them for the most part. The end of our last trip left a somewhat sour taste in my mouth and I'll explain why.
Upon check-in, we were propositioned to sit through their time-share circus show. We initially declined, but the 'gifts' they dangled in front of us were just too enticing for us to pass up for a 90 minute session of me saying "No." Three days and two nights free, $125 gift card and a free breakfast for me and the wife? I'll take that deal.
Star swipe to the presentation, which was sales pitch to the EXTREME. It was like a scene out of Glengarry, Glenn Ross. Holy smokes! They herded us out of of there and handed us over to their sales people. We got some broad who was coming on way too strong for my taste. Told her from jump that we were NOT interested, but we didn't want to be rude and she could continue if she wanted. She did and here's how our conversation went down:
Me: Yeah, I got a buddy who is an owner here.
Her: "Oh, yeah? He must be a really smart guy. Is he smart?
Me: "Nah, not really. I mean, he bought a timeshare!" (ZING!) Pure comic GOLD!
She was NOT impressed (Subsequently, I have had several chuckles at that scenario).
This lady then proceeds to pull out her phone, shuffle through the pictures of her cat to find last year's sales numbers, shows me that her name was on the top of the list and tells me how she is the best salesperson there and then tells me what she makes. Then she says that she will close 6 out of 10 people and the other 4 "Just can't afford it." After determining that I COULD afford it she hits me with this look like, "...Soooo... Why aren't you buying...?" My wife and I simultaneously said, "We just aren't." (JUST LIKE I TOLD YOU WHEN WE STARTED!!!) She promptly shakes our hands and leaves. Point- Sam.
We had us a good laugh as we collected our gifts and left. All in all- we like the place, but those sales people are... They're really something. I will omit the long conversation had in the hot tub with a Diamond "owner" who is extremely dissatisfied with her ownership.
This being the case, we still like it here and will come back... Cuz it's FREEEEEEEEE!
