I have both shopped here and taken a course here. I normally buy specialty items from here as it is a bit costly. Some of the great items I've found are:
- frozen chocolate croissants in the freezer you can bake yourself
- truffle pig chocolates from Burnaby BC
- Chinook honey - they do have a location in okotoks but this is a lot closer and they carry a few kinds
- maple syrup, the best one is in a bottle with a red wax seal... Amazing!
- olive oils and spreads, every once in a while I'll find one to splurge on
Their courses are good as well, except a bit overpriced. A lot of the pre work is done for you and you split up into groups so you don't get to try making everything. For a couple hour course and meal it's not bad, but I'd say try elsewhere if you're really trying to learn technique (SAIT has some good courses). I found this place more for a fun and enjoyable party in the kitchen with friends and family.
Overall, I will still visit the Cookbook Cooks Co. regulary, but probably only for specialty items.
