Let me start off by saying Yama used to be my go to sushi spot in Vegas.. Well that changed a long time ago but I still decided to try it out again and I can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant.
Every time we place an order it was about 3 to 5 items and each time they forgot at least 1 item so the entire time I was constantly asking for something that was previously ordered. The sushi has gone so far down hill with portion size and quality and was lacking flavor in ever item. After the 3rd time asking then for a side order of teriyaki chicken for my 2 kids to eat they finally brought it and by that time they weren't hungry any more which was a good thing because after eating a piece myself that tasted undercooked I decided to check the rest of it and it was completely raw. It takes a special kind of person to cook a paper thin piece of chicken medium rare (and calling it mid rare is being generous because it was hardly seared). If the service was good it would of made up for the food being horrible but that wasn't the case at all because service sucked. Thank you Yama for permanently crossing yourself off of my list of places to dine and recommend. I'm a chef on the Las Vegas strip and a highly respected restaurant and will usually forgive a place for bad experience but not this time.
