We committed to a Sunday matinee movie with family and after they bought the tickets for everyone we were shocked at the price -- $12 for a matinee?!? When did that happen? We would likely never spend that for just the two of us considering how quickly movies show up at the 2nd run theaters and video these days. But we couldn't back out of course.
Our trepidations faded quickly once we got comfortable in the recliners and Star Trek Beyond filled the screen making for a enjoyable air conditioned afternoon in this record heat we are experiencing. The movie itself, sound and picture were excellent.
I can't comment on concessions or the in theater food service. I can't remember the last time we bought concessions from any theater.
The $12 price shocked me so much because when we have patronized this theater in the past we have gone to the $5 early bird shows which are before 11:00am. Kudos for Marcus Palace offering this rate as well as the Tuesday $5 deal.
Unrelated to this specific visit, when they first opened I was turned off by the idea of assigned seating and I no longer know why. It's awesome particularly for our group of 7. We didn't have to arrive early to reserve a row of seats for our group and could walk into the theater at our leisure ideally after the advertisements that run before the movie.
Ultimately they do offer a good experience and $12 is perhaps the market rate people are willing to pay. Just a little much for me.
