Off Da Hook is on the north-side of Glendale just across the street from the Fry's gas station. There is limited parking in the front and more in the back. They also take all credit cards.
I tried it out for lunch. I ordered the 6 piece chicken wings with fries and kool-aid. YEEEAAH!
The woman at the front had a great personality. The inside is very simple. Half a dozen tables, a soda machine, and a menu board. The cashier brought out my drink and asked about condiments. The food came out in 10-15 minutes and was 100% fresh, hot, and crispy.
The wings had a nice crispness to them and almost tasted like chicharrones. The fries were just as fresh and hot and had a good seasoning to them. The house hot sauce had a strong bitterness from the vinegar but could have used a bit more heat.
Unfortunately the place was dead and it was lunchtime on a busy street. Anytime you have 5 employees to 1 customer is not a good sign.
I personally don't think I will return but here are a few issues that can be easily taken care of and bring in some more business:
When I came in a cook was cursing out another employee. I'm cool with curse words but there was a 4 year old girl waiting with her mother and that's just not cool.
An employee took a smoke break behind the kitchen and the door was wide open. I don't like to be smoked out when I am eating.
The cook came out and blew his nose right after my food came out. Poor form. I was really hoping it was allergies and I don't get sick.
The wings while good were tiny. I have eaten tons of wings throughout my life and these were the smallest I ever seen. I actually feel bad for the baby chickens that were sacrificed for my eating pleasure.
Lastly, the meal ended up being over 8 bucks with a tip. For a lunch meal of 6 baby hobbit wings, fries, and koolaid is a bit high. They would get a bigger lunch crowd if they put this closer to 5.
