| - Boo-urns catering department. I love the grocery part of the store, but the catering department, below average.
I had a baby shower to organize so I ordered some platters from Whole Foods to fill in some gaps I had in my menu. I ordered a tea sandwich platter, a fruit platter and a maki platter.
*The tea sandwich platter was sadly quite awful. The bread was so stale and crusty, almost day old, I suspect they made the platter on Saturday afternoon, but I asked to pick up the platters on Sunday at noon. The fillings were fine, but the sandwiches on the bottom layer were soggy, and the ones on top, crusty. So I ended up serving only the crusty sandwiches. Unfortunately, my guests were not desperate enough to finish the sandwiches; they ended up in compost. What a waste of money.
*The fruit platter which cost me $80.00 for a M size was the same as something I`d get at Loblaws or Costco (for less than $50.00). Cantaloupe, pineapple, watermelon and a sprinkling of raspberries. Yawn. Throw in some mango, some starfruit, maybe a half a passion fruit or something so people realize Whole Foods is worth the money. Sheesh.
*Maki platter was tiny, but it was only $21.00. Funnily, this flew off the table. A Japanese exchange student was at the baby shower and she said it was "Soooo good."
So I'm really dissapointed with the catering, and I will not be ordering from them again. But general grocery shopping is a 4* experience, and I'll still be going back.
