| - This Liberty Village Goodlife is a pretty decent location. First off, it's huge -- it definitely has more machines than the average location. There are a couple different areas so the traffic is dispersed throughout the location. They also have one or two rooms for group exercise classes -- I haven't been to any at this location yet, but they seem to be pretty packed in the evening hours so I'd suggest arriving early.
Generally the hardcore athletes stick to the middle of the gym, where they can do ridiculous things like balance on an exercise ball while lifting twelve 100lb weights. Luckily, there is a section for beginners like me, and once you learn how to use the weight machines, it's less scary. The gym can be intimidating at times because it's usually filled with people who REALLY know what they're doing. But the staff are more than helpful with explaining things for you even if you don't sign up for the personal trainers.
My one complaint about this location is there is barely any space on the mats if you want to stretch or do any sort of floor exercises. Not so fun when you're basically shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone else. Especially when it gets sweaty. Yuck.
Besides that, this location is clean, spacious, and open 24 hours during the week. Plus, if you pick a treadmill or elliptical along the south side of the gym, you get a great view of the CN tower and the lake (past the Dominion parking lot). How nice.
