My first impression of Bunky's cafe was that the atmosphere was a bit....old. As in, the style of the decor and um, the clientele. I also did not realize that reservations were pretty much required if I wanted a table. Oops.
BUT props to the serving staff for squeezing in my party of 5 and giving us a table right away! AND I'm so glad I did because the food was super amazing. The carrot soup was to die for...if it's a special again I'm definitely ordering like 5 bowls of it. And it's hard not to go wrong with the Bunky's Pasta, given it's perfectly creamy marina sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection.
Bunky's was a crowd-pleaser also due to its large menu and blend of Italian and Mediterranean dishes. It's awesome you can order traditional lasagna, or chicken kabobs, if you're in the mood. There's something for everyone, without being overwhelming. My sister with Celiac's said the gluten free pasta is actually really good too, which is rare (according to her).
I usually prefer places that look a bit trendier but sometimes it's hard to beat the classics, like Bunky's. I would come here again, especially with guests or family members that would prefer a more comfortable restaurant with traditional, recognizable Italian foods.
