I bought a bike from this stores years ago and I thought they went out of business but they moved out of town. I saw on their website the free tune-up for life on any bike that you purchase from them. I thought wow this is great, I have not had a real tune-up on my bike in a while so I reached out and contacted the store. The assured me they will still honor the offer so I brought it into them. I dropped it off and thought I would get it back better than when I dropped it off. I received a phone call two days after dropping it off from the mechanic telling me I should really get my rims or wheels lubed and it would be $40 with labor. I explained that I am saving my pennies for a new full suspension bike so I will pass on this. It was riding fine as I just took it out the morning that I dropped it off at the shop and all was good. The mechanic said ok and told me they were finishing it up. Half an hour later he called me back and explained that my front rotor was not stopping the wheel and with parts and labor it would be $78. My jaw dropped when he said this because like I mentioned, I just took the bike out and it was working great so I explained this to him and there was silence on the phone. He said he would be putting new parts on. I explained I have no money for the repair and it worked when I brought it in. Again there was a silent pause in the conversation again, I finally told him that I am looking to spend $4,000 on a Trek full suspension from them but not if he is going to nickel and dime me on repairs every time I come in with the free tune-up, forget it and I will go elsewhere. Without skipping a beat he said, let me try something else to fix it. He called me back half an hour later and told me he fixed it and there is no charge for it.
I went it to pick it up and I tested the rotor and it seemed fine. I just took it out on the trail yesterday and something happened to the gears and the derailleur. It make a winding noise that it wasn't making before bringing it in and my lower gears fall off the rings. I found a local bike buy that will come to my house and do work and he doesn't try to upsell me on the work and parts. I felt like I was at a car dealership, the minute I said I was looking to buy a new bike he fixed the problem so I would look at them. I do like the bike but I will be buying it from another store.
