| - This place is heavenly! I've only been once so far; my boyfriend got me a few treatmens as a gift. All treatments include access to their theraputic waters but you can just pay to use the theraputic waters if you want. I booked an appointment for my treatments early on a weekend morning, and even then they was already a lineup of women! You pay as soon as you enter so you don't have to worry about any of that stuff afterwards when you're feeling all refreshed and relaxed. You can also purchase drinks at the cash (smoothies, tea, etc).
Once you pay, they give you a quick tour if you haven't been there before. There is a changeroom with lockers, showers, and a little vanity room where you can do your hair and makeup after you are done, all of which are kept VERY clean. They provide you with everything you can think of possibly needing - towels, robes, sandals, shampoo and body wash in the showers, even hair elastics!
First up is the theraputic waters. They give you a laminated piece of paper that shows you a recommended circuit - where to start, where to go next, how long you should spend at each station, etc. Personally, I wasn't able to follow the circut. There is a Cold Plunge that I just couldn't handle going into. There is also a steam room that I was only able to sit in for a little while. They use eucalyptus in the steam room and while it is refreshing, it just makes it really hard to breathe. That's just a personal preference though. I don't think they did anything wrong, I just couldn't handle it. Bathing suits are optional, so you will run into women who are comfortable enough to bare it all, and yes, I am an adult but that still catches me off guard when it happens. Also, people were conversing a little loudly in the pools which wasn't very relaxing, but it is expected in a room full of women with their friends. I think keeping the conversation volume low is of a common courtesy that should be enforced by the individuals, rather than the staff.
If you have a treatment scheduled, a staff member will come to the pools to get you. My first treatment was a 60 min. theraputic massage. It was probably the best massage I've ever had. My massuse spoke only when she needed to, and when she did, she spoke in a very quiet, soothing manner. The room had the perfect atmosphere.
After that, I had the morrocan spice body glow. That was a bit awkward for me and I don't think I would do it again, mainly because I just wasn't comfortable with it. Again, they probably didn't do anything wrong, it's just personal preference. They have a hall with just a bunch of large stalls that have beds in them with a very bright light above you, they scrub you, they hose you off. I just felt very... exposed through the whole process and that's just not my thing. It made me a little uncomfortable so unfortunately it wasn't as relaxing for me as it should have been. Part of the treatment included a little bit of a massage so I was basically just doubling up on massages.
In terms of prices, I'm not a big spa hopper (not sure what you call someone who goes to spas a lot?) so I can't compare with much else. I would put it somewhere between moderate and pricey, simply becuase the prices seemed fair for the services and the massages were generally in the same neighbourhood as what I have paid for massages in the past.
My boyfriend got me another gift certificate for a massage for Valentines Day, this time just for the theraputic massage. I just need to find the time to schedule it, but I can't wait to go back!
Also, hoping that one day Body Blitz will do a day or weekend for Men! I bet you that you will have men signing up for this, especially my boyfriend who quite possibly enjoys going to spas more than I do!
