The downtown market in Toronto has been there forever. It's practically an institution along the harbour front. When I lived in T.O. I loved coming down to the market on a lazy Saturday or Sunday to walk around and check out the vendors. It was a great place to grab a coffee and morning snack and browse for ingredients for dinner, then grab a street dog for lunch out on the street. This place is full of vendors selling fruits and veggies, baked good, fresh meats and fish, crafts, jewelry, and much much more. It draws both tourists and locals and it's always flooded with people on the weekends. I'd give it 5 stars, but for the fact that I've been to Seattle's Market which is even bigger and better. But as far as Toronto goes, this is the best market in the city, maybe in the country.
