| - The last two times we used SWA was to severely undercut the costs of of being over charged for a connecting flight from LAS to LAX when we fly international. This last trip doing so easily saved us $300, but it was actually more like $600 since I'm a Rapid Rewards member w/SWA card. I actually can't remember the last time I paid for a flight with SWA!
So why 3 stars and not 4 or 5? This last time we flew as a family of three. Our son is special needs and most of the time we fly we are able to board early, we even noted this while booking online. So as we waited for the boarding announcement for people with young children or special assistance we heard the call for elderly flyers and top tier rewards members, then the A group, and then for families. So, no surprised we boarded we had to make our way to the back and struggled with our son, who is well behaved, but very easily distracted, especially with all the people making noise while getting settled. This made for some awkward situations of him trying to sit down next to random people while we made our way to the back.
On our way back I had to upgrade our tickets to guarantee A class boarding to make things ab bit easier for us, and it did, but this is the only airline I've flown on that requires us to do. Also, their system was glitching hard when I upgraded the tickets, so it wasn't telling me I was already checked in and had to reach to SWA to reconfirm everything.
