| - I am an avid library goer. Make no mistake, I am not some smart bookworm. That's the hilarity of it all. I love the library but I am absolutely HORRID with grammar (if it wasn't for the auto correct readers would've had to endure me spelling it like 'grammer' )
and sentence fragments. I like to think I have a super power.... to make English majors shudder in pain.
Anyhoot.
My library card shines in my wallet pocket right next to my air miles and debit card. I consider it in my top 7 cannot-leave-without cards. Don't judge me.
I've been coming to this location for a few years now, and just recently they were closed down for 16months under renovation. They re-opened June 2011 and MY, it is STUNNING.
The makeover renovation has officially pimped this place out. Literally. XZIBIT, you are now the weakest link ! - see what I did there? huh huh?
Tall glass windows, Parking lot cleaned up with visible yellow marks, New sliding front doors with one entrance for in/out with security sensors (because lets face it, it's still on the cusp of the ghetto), The counter is a cool white matching all the shiny silver metal. Even the staff was new. The middle section is now covered completely with stands advertising the featured books of the week & shelves behind arranging books with genre. Unfortunately they still use the same horrid alphabetical ordering system to track the authors last name. Ugh. This used to annoy me in high school and it still does. Sorry folks, this evil still prevails.
On the flip side,no more mouldy carpet smell in the back corners where coincidentally all the good books live. On the left side of the entrance you have the computer section. All lined up with small buzzing monitors all lined up. On the right side of the entrance is the children section. Probably the most impressive & most changed. They decorated the section and made it considerably large. Interesting thing, no more study areas? strange. What happened to those long tables that seated 5 people to "study". That is where most of my youngin memories come from? teen bop magazine and my discovery of bazaar? WHaaaaaaa??????
I'm speechless. Not really.
My only complaint? - They don't carry Dean Koontz. SERIOUSLY?
seriously? - How can you call yourself a library?
But they make a good sell by offering me Gigi Grazier.
Hmm....Fiction imagination feeding literary god or a sinfully delicious diary of a 20 something on a sugar daddy hunt in LA.???
I shake my fist at you Mister Library selection person. You might have won this round but remember that feature called "order to this location?".
How you like me now?
