OK, if there's anything a traditional French bistro HAS to be able to nail is Steak Frites. Two of us stopped in for lunch and ordered such, medium rare. Both steaks came out rare - annoying, but not a complete disaster if the meat is good. No such luck: the steaks were full of gristle and connective tissue, and almost tasteless - kind of like the industrial-quality meat sold by some of the cheaper butchers in town. Really? Really?? Is that the best you can do for $17.95, Jules? Honestly, I don't mind paying a couple of bucks more for quality. The meal we were served was more on the level of a crappy diner.
