| - at only 80 cents per bagel, it's an inexpensive, tasty, and fun must-try treat! my favorite part of the bagel shop is that you have full view of the kitchen. i liked watching them roll the dough (huge slab of it), pull the boiled bagels out of the water, and pop them in the kiln.
the recommended is sesame but i prefer the all dressing - they also have some other "gourmet" flavors like rosemary and sea salt when i was there. there are actually 2 shops on this street - a smaller one with no line and the "main" one with newspaper cut-outs and things. both are constantly making bagels fresh, only the "main" one is open 24 hrs i think.
in terms of the bagel itself, it's definitely best fresh - nice crunch on the outside, soft on the inside with generous toppings (thus why all dressing, which is canada's equivalent to the everything bagel) is my favorite. it is a little drier than i expected (especially when you don't eat it hot) so getting a spread might be a good idea. the spreads, which they sell there, include single serve cream cheese, butter, nutella, jam, and larger containers of smoked salmon spread and smoked salmon packages. there are also some bottled drinks available at the larger bagel shop and some desserts, bagel chips, other random items.
the comparison is fairmont's, which is just 2 blocks away, so try 'em both and see which one is your favorite!
