I love Thai food. We've been to Sa-Bai Thong on the West side many times and it's always great! So flavorful and delicious. I was looking forward to trying this location.
We went for a late lunch on Saturday. There was plenty of parking and plenty of seating. Our waiter ushered us to a table and then brought us water. We ordered the gui chai (chive dumpling), the pork larb, and the pad thai. I've had chive dumplings before, but this preparation was different. There were two steamed rice-flour dough bite-sized dumplings. I was not a fan of the texture. I definitely prefer these fried. The flavor was good. I've also had amazing larb before but this was not it. Two lettuce leaves filled w/ground pork and onions. It was fine, but not particularly flavorful, not at all spicy, not much ground rice and I thought the portions seemed small. I was still quite hungry after we finished. Similar to the larb, the pad thai was fine but far from the best. Very little spice, not a ton of vegetables, it was a decent portion and had some hints of flavor but didn't have the fresh and intense flavors I associate with Thai food.
We'll probably just stick with the West side location.
