| - Jeni's is well named as their ice cream is indeed splendid. More designed for adults rather than a place to take the kids. Located in a small storefront right by the falls, the place feels both modern and timeless, a perfect fit in Chagrin Falls. Enough seating if you want to eat there, but I almost always take mine and wander around the town.
Jeni's ice cream starts with a great base, creamy and smooth with just enough fattiness, without being overpowering. The flavors are unique with deep flavors, but not overly sweet. I tried the Salted Peanutbutter with Chocolate Flakes and the Whiskey and Pecan, both were good, the peanutbutter was mellow and nutty, the whisky with just enough punch and delicious pecans.
I got a triple with the Atlantic Beach Pie, the Savannah Buttermint and the Darkest Chocolate. The Atlantic Beach Pie is a sweet cream ice cream with a tart lemon lacing and crunchies; a great combination that makes you remember summers when you were a kid. The Buttermint is a nice subtle peppermint ice cream with white chocolate flecks and perfectly captures the mints you find in better candy shops. The darkest Chocolate lives up to its name, deep and rich yet still smooth, it packs a dark chocolate punch that will satisfy every chocoholics cravings.
Jeni's is not cheap, but the quality of the product makes it worth while; go in with an open mind and try some samples to help you navigate through the unique flavors. Go and give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
