Heard a lot about this place so decided to to it for myself. 2 words - never again. First of all, there was a sign that said "Parking $1 plus $9 Tip." I don't know if it was a joke or serious but I was NOT parking there. I parked on the street. When I go inside, the place is empty. (I'm not going to go into detail about the horrible decor) The hostess gave me a menu since I wanted it To Go, but also gave me a book of oils... Hustling OILS as I looked over the overpriced menu. Wow. Ghet-to. The meals were $13 for an entree and 2 sides. I got the smothered chicken with gravy on the side, black eyed peas and rice, and macaroni and cheese. After waiting about 30 minutes for my $15 meal, I left. (They forgot my gravy. I went back for it)
The Meal: Chicken was incredibly fatty. Lots of parts I could not eat. The black eyed peas and rice were flavorless. No seasoning. No salt. The macaroni and cheese was clearly BOXED! Cheap, sad excuse for a soul food restaurant to have boxed soupy Mac and cheese. The meal came with cornbread which was hard and heavy and absolutely inedible. Overall, I was very disappointed with my meal and the service I received from Mrs White's. I'm not fond of LoLos either but I would GLADLY eat there before spending another dime at Mrs White's. The search for good soul food in Phoenix continues...
