| - So, I wrote the below review when I was angry. Again, my dog almost died and I wasn't getting any help from anyone regarding the incident. The insurance company denied any financial relief because it was not a matter of negligence.
Now, looking back, although this was a super unfortunate mistake, I have never had any issue with any doctors here. I have been going here for 3 years now and aside from this incident, Ann Road Hospital staff are and always have been amazing and want to do all they can for my pet. I apologize if my reaction gave any negative impact on any decisions towards choosing this hospital, but as long as this hospital will allow my dog and I to come back, I am happy to be coming here.
I am so disappointed in this place. I really liked it until a recent experience. This experience almost cost my dog his life. I took my dog here November 2016 (moved to Vegas in 2015) for a slight rash on his tummy and sever ear infection. He was treated with ear medication over the next few weeks. The cause was assumed to be an allergy. He recovered in December and no issues until June 2017. Different vet, same circumstance: ear infection with a slight stomach rash. He was treated, again, for an allergy: given an allergy shot and ear medication.
In August 2017, my dog has a severe rash in his stomach with black spots, redness and dryness. The vet (a third different vet), said this was an allergy rash, gave my dog an allergy shot, a months worth of antibiotics and a shampoo to bathe him in 3X Per week. She advised I see a dermatologist to find out through tests what he is allergic to. She also advised that I wait until his skin clears up, get pet insurance and find a new vet so that he can be covered for future costs since he will be "an expensive dog".
2 weeks later, my dog was on his death bed. Through tests from a dermatologist and more tests with Ann Road, it turns out the antibiotics given to my dog caused an auto immune disease. A skin culture showed my dog had a sun burn, not an allergy rash (findings were from the dermatologist. Ann Rd concluded with nothing other than a $555 fee to tell ne he had a thyroid issue-- which was caused by a steroid the dermatologist pit him on 2 days prior while waiting for biopsy reaults).
$3000 and 2 months later, my dogs health is back on track.
I filed a liability insurance claim for Ann Road and the insurance company can't follow through because there was no "negligence" on behalf of the vet. I understand that it would be hard to win a case showing a veterinarian being negligent because they're in the field they are to help heal animals. But there was a mistake made because of an assumption for an allergy opposed to any further investigation to find out what this huge horrible rash really is. It's not fair to myself financially and it's definitely not fair to my dog who literally almost died because of this assumption. It's not right that an insurance would deny anything because there was no negligence found. Isn't that what insurance is supposed to be for? Mistakes made? Ann Road has not apologized nor have they offered anything as a result of this incident. It's just horrible. That's not how anyone or animal should be treated. Now I will make it a point to make sure no one goes to Ann Road hospital!!
