| - The Good
My husband and I had dinner here two days ago to celebrate our first anniversary. He called to reserve an 8:00 dinner at which he was specifically asked whether he was celebrating a particular occasion; during which he stated, "Our anniversary". At check-in, we were greeted with, "Happy Anniversary".
We arrived and were seated at a window table for two with a spectacular view of the Strip and Bellagio Fountains' water show. While watching the water show, I ordered a Cosmopolitan, Spring Water, and Non-Traditional Caesar Salad with Anchovies, Capers, and Garlic. We were also given a choice of three breads: Sourdough, French Baguette, or Whole Wheat. We both selected the Sourdough and French Baguette, and were pleased.
For the entrees, he ordered the Char-Broiled Filet Mignon (prepared Medium Rare), Rossini Style, with Foie Gras and Truffle Sauce - it was absolutely delicious. I originally ordered the Beef Wellington, but we were pressed for time (for our 9:30 Zumanity show at New York-New York) after our waiter indicated it could take in excess of 45 minutes to cook, so I subsequently ordered the Roasted Rack of Lamb (prepared Medium) with Tomato Tart and Tarragon Jus - it too was delicious.
After dinner, I finished the Cosmopolitan - it was one of the best Cosmos I have ever experienced.
The Bad
Our waiter attempted up-sell at every moment. While deciding on our dinner selections, we asked him about an appetizer, he suggested the highest priced appetizer. When we asked him about soup or salad, he suggested one of the highest priced items, and when we inquired about the entrees, he, of course, suggested the highest priced entree.
As we were celebrating our anniversary, our waiter never once mentioned it. We never received an "Anniversary" dessert or anything close to it. Although we were slightly pressed for time, our waiter did not even suggest a to-go dessert.
The Ugly
We received absolutely nothing for deciding to celebrate our anniversary at Eiffel Tower Restaurant. We would have gladly paid more than our $200 bill to have received much better service.
