We (a group of 4) decided last minute to rent a car after we landed at the airport and the ladies at the Thrifty counter were exceptional in helping us find something really affordable at the last minute. However, when we returned the car (with a FULL tank), the attendant at the drop off area said he would bill us for $20 because the fuel gauge pin was not all the way to FULL. This was ridiculous because we JUST filled the tank at the Sinclair gas station down the road before driving up to drop off the car. Very terrible experience because we didn't have the gas receipt (we were told at the counter that it's a requirement when returning the car) and wished we had been told this when we picked up the car. We went up to the counter to talk to the guy there and he decided to show us the fine print stating that the gas receipt must be returned at drop off. Well, that was a very unhelpful experience and I'm surely not doing business with Thrifty again because it was also very suspicious how the gauge didn't go all the way to "full" even though we drove the car for only 2 minutes after filling up the gas tank. I wonder if they tampered with their fuel gauge.
