| - First off, if you read these reviews, you will see people complaining about the wait. This is a barber shop with two staff, both of whom are exteemely good at what they do, and so are in high demand. My friend and I waited for five others to get their cuts before us and it took around an hour and fifteen minutes. I've waited similar amounts of time for cuts far inferior to this.
On that note: this is probably the best cut I've ever gotten. I was going to wait until we got to LA to get a cut at a "real" LA barber shop, but I doubt it would have surpassed this one. Matthew has a deft hand and makes his cuts with extreme confidence, which is noticable from the chair. Additional touches like a steamed towel massage and choice of aftershave after the edge up are very nice.
The atmosphere was eclectic and intriguing. I enjoyed spending time in the place. I don't think the price is crazy, as $20 is what I am used to paying for a cut (that includes a $5 tip to my regular barber, though), and a deal for the skill that 13 years of cutting Matthew brings to you. His attention to what matters is what is important, and he doesn't miss a thing. If you have the money (and the hair), get a beard trim or shave; I saw a man getting his beard trimmed and it looked really great. Can't recommend this place enough.
