  • Unfortunately, Madison WI is not a place of Chinese gastronomy. Coming from a much larger city, I know great Chinese food. Tai's is one of the few fairly good places here. On the plus side, the food is good and is brought to the table piping hot. Also, the staff is always friendly. Negatives: Despite lots of dining tables, the place (like most Madison Chinese) is not "eat in friendly". Bowls of food are often served without serving spoons. We almost always have to hunt down serving spoons, and the ones available are only tablespoon size. Also, there are numerous menu versions (three I've seen), making ordering a confusing experience even for repeat customers. No one menu has the complete offerings. If take-out Chinese is your thing (Madisonians seem overwhelmingly a take-out crowd), this might be the place for you. I value a good dining experience. Unfortunately, Tai's falls short here, hence I knock my rating down a star.
