| - TOO ANYONE CONSIDERING GIVING BIRTH HERE:
I am writing this review almost 3 years later because I am still disgusted at the treatment I was given at this hospital. I gave birth to my son here in 2013. The recovery room was the worst experience ever. They acted like I have had babies before and knew the process. I was wheeled into the recovery room where the nurse requested I push down and massage on my stomach every hour to prevent clotting so she wouldn't have to come in and do it for me (which of course I never did because I was a ZOMBIE). She also informed my sons father and I not to sit on the other bed in the room as this would be needed in case they got full, so we were confined to a very small section with my hospital bed and one little hard chair. She gave me a sheet of paper and told me to fill it out as I breastfed (how often, what side, how long, etc.). She didn't mention that this was just a useful tool for me if I wanted to use it until the next day. I thought this was something I had to do.. which was a giant annoyance as I was beyond exhausted. I wasn't told if/when I could go shower? I wasn't told I could dress my baby? I didn't know, so many people were coming in and out of the room non-stop, people advertising their photography, people advertising their clinics for this, checking my sons hearing, etc.
The following morning the nurse came in and said, "oh your suppose to take these pills," iron or some sort of pills your suppose to take after delivery. Like I must have just known (they were sitting on a tray by my bed since I was placed in the room).
I worked all day, went to the hospital at 4pm, gave birth to my son at 10pm, and by 6/7am the hospital was calling me requesting me to pay for my sons birth right now. I hadn't slept in over 24 hours and was in disbelief they were wanting me to get up, find my credit card and pay now. So I didn't call back, no worries, by 10am they came up, walked into my room and asked for payment!!!!! They couldn't bill me!? Are you kidding? Not to mention these pieces of work actually overcharged me (I got a check in the mail a few weeks later), but F*** at least they had their money!
When I made it to my son's 3 day check up with his doctor, the doctor was surprised my sons umbilical cord clamp was still on. Again something I didn't know any different, yet the hospital didn't take the time to take it off.
You know that special little card that goes in the hospital bed, and is suppose to say your child's gender, weight, height, etc. My son's was blank :( Not to mention I had to ask what my sons height and weight was after birth because they weren't saying anything, and the nurse rounded everything up!
And I must mention, during the birth I only saw the doctor once when I was pushing my son out. The nurses and a resident did everything, and the resident is the one who stitched me up. I was private paying, and due to the chaos didn't have the mind to say anything at the time, but I would have preferred the doctor have been the one to handle things rather than being the residents practicing pad. They never even asked if I was a okay with that.
All in all, the experience wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have a disgustingly lazy, heartless night nurse in the recovery room. She should not be working there. Nothing was done to attempt to make the experience comfortable, or even to be helpful! When I called to complain I was shrugged off.
