Well ok I have to confess that I have NOT tried any of the donuts. The two times I have tried to get some, they have been sold out other than the "dots" which do not sound as appealing.
What I have tried however, is the chicken. The SO and I wandered the half a block or so until we hit Paulettes - weekday evening for takeout. We ordered a full chicken which is a generous 8 pieces and a medium slaw. bill came to $32. The chicken came in two boxes with the slaw separate, and when we were done, one of those boxes was filled with batter remnant. The slaw was good but not at all extraordinary. Mine is just as good. The chicken was HEAVY on batter. A light batter but TONNES of it. The chicken itself was moist, but the skin beneath the batter very slimy. I would have preferred it roasted in this case. The chicken also comes unseasoned, as you are to rely in a dip. We chose hot sauce which was good and a "sumac and oregano seasoning salt" which was not flavorful at all. Some more salt in the batter would be great. Decent price but totally not amazing. I don't know.. I heard "Korean" somewhere and was expecting brilliance.
Super cute staff, great location and so much promise. I think if they deal with the batter and start taking debit we may be in a better place. Just get some more side choices and put some salt in the salts.. and it could be good.
ok for now. (You are competing with Chick-In-Joy after all which is greasy but Authentic....)
