  • I usually rent from Fox which everyone knows is not always quality customer service and cars are dirty but they always have the best prices. I decided driving across town was more of a hassle than paying more for a rental company close to home.I went through Costco and booked an "intermediate" car. Getting the car wasn't really an issue. Nothing horrible but nothing great. After getting back to my house and putting my bag in the car I saw how stained all the seats were. Do people just pour their drinks out on all the seats?! I had to put towels down on all the seats because it looked so gross and didn't want my stuff touching it. Rented the vehicle for 4 days to head out of town for San Diego since my own vehicle is a gas hog. While still one hour from arriving in San Diego the maintenance required light comes on. I call in to see what can be done or if I need to take it to a budget location to swap vehicles and I get asked if I purchased roadside assistance. That instantly made me angry. I paid to rent a vehicle that should be maintained. The rental agent asked for the mileage which was 25,450 and said it should be good until 32,000 and maybe they forgot to reset the light. Cool, I understand things get overlooked and warning lights may come on, but don't act like I need to pay to have coverage of something right from the start and not be apologetic. My friends who rode with me to dinner asked about the seats and why was the light on on the dash and did I rent from some ghetto car place. Besides worrying about it, the car didn't seem to give any issues other than the light and dirty seats. Returning the car was disorganized. Someone blocked the driveway to return so I had to park in the dealerships lot. Walk in and stand in line and then I'm told to bring it up the driveway to the check in guy. Fine, whatever let me try this again. Move the car up the driveway and no one is around. Park it there and go back inside and wait in line again. Finally the "check in" guy comes in asking for keys to move the car. He had to inspect it so I had to walk back out with him and wait for paperwork just to walk back inside to turn it in. From all the issues and disorganization at the end, I will never rent from this place again. I'd rather have sh*tty customer service, save money and drive far to Fox who actually has their drop off area organized and actually apologizes if lights come on or pay a little more to go to Hertz down the street.
