  • This is hard for me to write a bad review, as you can see I have never used Yelp to write a negative review. Only positive ones. However, yesterday I took my Nissan Sentra (2012) into the Jiffy Lube location on Main and Recker. I've been here before and today was different. The staff wasn't as friendly, they took my keys and began trying to service the vehicle before I had even basically checked in. No one looked up my name in the computer and when I asked if I could go next door to eat the man behind the counter handed me a clip board. He seemed irritated that I wanted to leave and come back. While filling out the clip board with my information which I already thought was odd since I KNOW I am in their system, I noticed the pricing. For a standard oil change it was $67 + tax, and the prices went up from there. I asked him about it thinking there is no way it is that expensive and he said it was and that in fact my Sentra would cost more because it can only take synthetic oil. I've had this Sentra since 2011, never once have I put synthetic in it. I tried telling him this, I also have never in my entire life of driving spent over $40 on an oil change. He insisted that I need synthetic because otherwise it will void my dealership warranty. I tried telling him that I don't have a warranty on the car. Rather than look in the system for any of this information or to check facts he became irritated with me.He became cold and started saying I could take it somewhere else where they tell me I need new brakes etc. but that I was wrong and this is standard, he also assured me that I was wrong about the type of oil. . . Needless to say 15 minutes later I was 2 miles West at Hortons where my oil change cost $22 and they might have been the friendliest auto mechanics I've ever met. They also showed me on their computer where my Nissan DOES NOT require synthetic oil. (Which I confirmed yet again by looking at my owners manual). I have had good experiences at this location before. I don't know what has happened since then but I do know there are much cheaper places to get your oil changed and I do feel I was about to be taken advantage of regarding the synthetic oil part. I wont be returning.
