  • We took a visiting family member out tonight and opted for AYCE sushi which landed us an Jjanga. We opted for the AYCE dinner, which was $25.95 per person. There was also a happy hour option that was a few bucks cheaper, but excluded most of the specialty items. For me, when it comes to sushi it's all about the rice. Call me picky, but when rice isn't the right amount of sticky and falling out of my rolls...well, it kinda drives me crazy. This wasn't the case here, so that was definitely a plus. We ordered a few rolls to start out, and none of them were special. I won't even begin to talk about their names. All in all, they were all just bland, even though they were drenched in sauce. We figured some saki and beer could make things more enjoyable, and while looking around for our server noticed a sign in the center of the restaurant stating that alcohol was not being served. That was a huge disappointment because we were unaware, uninformed, and at that point it was already too late to leave. We attempted to question our server about it, but she just brushed it off, and so did we. At that point, we really had no choice. Moving along, we decided to make the best of it and ordered a variety of other items. Our favorites being the tofu, garlic edamame, crab balls, and golden scallops. Everything else was again, just okay. Not long after we requested our check, and requested ice cream and mochi for our desert as we waited. The check came in 2 seconds, and fifteen minutes later there was still no ice cream. So, we flagged a server down and told her not to worry about our desert, and got up to leave. Overall, this was not the best AYCE experience we have had, but it also wasn't the worst. We were hoping for a more enjoyable, alcoholic version of AYCE sushi dinner for our guest and unfortunately things just didn't work in our favor. Perhaps better luck next time...well, if we ever decide to make the drive across town again and give it a go.
