| - Go enjoy the quiet beauty and charm of this State Park with friends, family, or even by yourself!
It's only about 20minutes from the strip, located on I-159W, 2mi AFTER passing the Red Rock Canyon Entrance. [http://parks.nv.gov/parks/spring-mountain-ranch-state-park/]
This medium size park/historical museum is surrounded by the magnificent mountain ranges of Red Rock Canyon! It has a gorgeous pond, around it are several trails looping into the mountain sides, wonderful for hiking and casual walking, while admiring a great variety of flowering plants, cacti, yacca... birds, tortoises, insects. One can easily hike 1 to 4+ miles around. About 100yards from that gorgeous pond are a huge, comfortable pavilion and another large fenced in area, shaded by trees and brushes, nice and cool for picnics and activities. The small historical museum features a famous cabin that comes with a "Secret Chamber"! Furthermore, there is also an attractive amphitheatre with a large natural grass lawn, which offers popular plays in the summer evenings from May through September (~$20pp). By the way, our hiking club just had one of our hiking/picnics there last week. We enjoyed our
2+mi hikes on its scenic trails before seriously settling down for fabulous goodies, fun and games in the cool pavilion! We even spotted 2 baby owls in the trees, and a friendly desert tortoise grazing under trees!
I am sure you'll be delighted and charmed by this wonderful ranch, which is definitely well worth the admission price of $7 [$9 for non-Nevada residents] per car.
