We attended a wedding at the Clarendon on a recent weekend. The promise of a beautiful roof top venue, wonderful food and efficient staff sounded wonderful. In reality, the hotel knows nothing about hosting weddings and the staff insured that none of us will ever return. The food was cold and tasteless and lacked any presentation. Some dishes were depleted early and never refilled. An open bar was paid for yet guests were forced to wear demeaning paper wrist bracelets. An unsmiling authoritarian hotel employee treated everyone as a nuisance and then sounded the final death knell for the evening by demanding that the evening be concluded and cleaned by the 10 p.m. time in which the wedding was scheduled to end. What should have been the most special night for this couple was ended with gathering guests and trash cans to clear table settings and break down tables. It was a night to remember, but for all the wrong reasons. Needless to say, we would never attend an event at this hotel again and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone.
