| - First off, I do not like leaving poor reviews about services, I try to find the good in everyone. When I drove up to this place I should have followed my first reaction and leave. The salon this nail person Kamille works in is in an old deserted strip mall. I mean really empty. The parking lot was littered with beer bottles. The salon is under another name so it wasn't clear I was even in the right place. I told myself she has great yelp reviews-- just stick it out.
Walking in everyone was friendly, but as I approached the back where the nail station was it was a little drab and felt dirty. (More later). Another warning I should have heeded. Ok so I wasn't in for a spa atmosphere I just wanted great nails. So i stayed.
Originally when I booked (which was by texting), I specifically asked for a new set of acrylic nails and pedicure. Kamille replied come on over. When I got there, after she was removing my old polish, it was then she sprang it on me that she doesn't do acrylics, only gels. I had never had gels. Ok at this point after all the red flags I really should have left!
I didn't, so she put brisa gel nails on me (I looked at the jar.) When finished it made me wonder if she was a student? They were uneven, cloudy, lumpy, way too thick, and looked amateurish, even after she did the filing etc. I went home and filed more trying to improve the situation. I don't know what all the pictures are from in these reviews but my nails looked like crap. I wondered if she is a polish person and her mom who works there too does the gel nails, and kamille does the pretty polish. It made me wonder if Kamille is just learning gels??? She kept going to her mom's station and borrowing things. It made me want to look up the licensing requirements. Just my opinion. I never saw her license displayed to look and figure that out.
I regret getting those gels so much, I took them off after 3 weeks and underneath I can see I was having some reaction, my nail beds are all red. I have worn acrylics for years and never had an issue, nor a nail set look as bad as those gels looked.
On to pedicure, she told me to climb up in the chair where a dirty pillow sat-the freakin red flag again! The pedicure area also looked dirty. She poured a bubble bath "store bought looking solution" in a bowl that had rocks, I wondered how they were cleaned and sanitized.. The bright spot is Kamille gives a great leg/foot massage. She did a great job on the rough spots and calluses. Normally my toe polish will last 3-4 weeks, her pedicure lasted three days and had crinkled. Yep just 3 days later I had to polish them myself again.
She is a very nice person, but her skills are not as great as everyone raves about. I have been to many nail techs and I have great artists to judge against. I am not a snob, I will go anywhere a great tech works. I suspect the reviews are friends and family who have written these reviews and she knows how to work the system. I can't believe that I was a unique situation.
I am trying not to be negative and only factual but it was probably the worst experience I have ever had. I did tip 20% at the end because she did the service,I am the Fool for staying and paying at a place I clearly should have turned around and left at the start. Do yourself a favor, find a different place, there are many great studios in Las Vegas.
