Dr Martin's office fit me in for an exam the very next morning upon me calling about a possible Achilles' tendon rupture in my right leg due to sprinting. It turned out that the tendon was in fact shredded and going to require surgery if I was to walk again - especially since I'm a gym rat and very active (hiking, scrambling and so on). He scheduled me for surgery the following week and his staff was incredibly helpful in facilitating all the arrangements and payments and pre-surgery prep. My surgery went seamlessly and Dr Martin's bedside manner was very calm and reassuring every step of the way. His followup appointments and aftercare were also amazing- even when I had concerns and had to be fit in the schedule to be seen on short notice. He handled an A-type personality like me beautifully and made sure to impress upon me the importance of going slowly and being patient, yet pushing myself appropriately to get flexibility and mobility back as soon as possible. The way he treats his patients is unique in how personal his care is, and how he even steps into the waiting room to bring water and snacks to older patients, and gives everyone hugs and treats them like he would his own family.
This is the way health care should be. The medical community could take a cue from Dr Martin and his staff - no one would complain about going to the doctor again if they were all like him.
I'm very grateful to have had him as my surgeon in so many ways- but especially in the amazing job he did with repairing my shredded tendon and the nice job he did with the incision. Most of all, I'm walking and performing activities WAY ahead of schedule and should be 100% in half the normal recovery time. Dr Martin is terrific!
