| - A few weekends ago a few tipsy friends and I decided to walk around on Dupont after a housewarming party, plotting how we can break into Casa Loma. Upon sobering up a bit and realizing that the castle was quite a distance, we began craving some late night drunk food and a place to sit and chat. After walking for about 20 minutes we finally stumbled across Jekyl and Hyde Pub and thought we'd give it a try, partially because it was the only one in sight and because the 'Friday Night Karaoke' sign was quite alluring (I LOVE karaoke). A friend and I decided to split the chicken fingers and fries: Upon taking a bite we mutually agreed that they weren't good...nor bad...just average (similar to the ones at Wheat Sheaf or Gracie's), but then again, we weren't expecting anything special from a pub's 'Late Night Menu.' Although the fingers had a slight crisp to them, they looked and tasted like they had been in the freezer for quite some time. However, our level of intoxication, intriguing discussion about 'panda sex' and the couple singing Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" for nearly 8 minutes (LOVE that song), followed by Eminem's "Lose Yourself" (also love that song) was enough to distract us from paying too much attention to the taste. Despite the fingers sucking, the fries were surprisingly quite tasty and seasoned very well with parmesan (I think?), salt and black pepper! The portion size was average....and the cost was about $12. All in all, I'd love to go to this bar again FOR KARAOKE and/or a few pints...and maybe a basket of delicious FRIES #minusthefingers to snack on...
