For all the hype about this place I was really expecting more. My husband and I went on a weeknight. Luckily there wasn't much of a wait. I've heard it can be up to 2 hours, but since it was 7:30pm on a Tuesday we were in the clear.
The service was wonderful. Our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful when we asked questions about the menu. But the burgers and sides were just kind of okay. Which isn't bad. I think I was just expecting a blow-your-mind burger.
I ordered the Sante Fe Hippie, but substituted beef for the vegetarian patty...so I guess it was only kind of half a hippie. And it was a decent burger, don't get me wrong about that. If I had gotten it for like $6 at a burger shack I would have been really impressed, but for a gourmet burger restaurant I'd say it was just alright.
The burgers at BRGR don't come with a side of chips or fries. But they have shareable sides you can order that are big enough for two people. We got tater-tots. It seemed like they were just the tater-tots you can get at the grocery store and make in the oven. It's nice there are a few different side options other than just fries though.
I'm happy we tried BRGR. But from now on when I want a gourmet burger, I'll always go to Burgatory.
